Bio:
At the 2012 London Olympic Games, Sanya was showcased her tireless work ethic by collecting two more Gold Medals (400m, 4x400m Relay) to add to an outstanding year that has already seen her win the 400m Indoor World Championship.

Prior to Sanya’s 2012 campaign, she bounced back from an injury shortened 2010 to claim her record fifth career World Championship Gold Medal by winning the 4x400 Relay in South Korea. In 2009 Sanya won her first individual Gold Medal at the World Championships, winning the 400m in addition to claiming Gold in the 4x400m Relay. As she had done in the two years prior, Sanya went undefeated in Golden League meets. For the fifth consecutive year, Sanya was the #1 ranked 400m female runner in the world. She also won her fifth National Championship in the 400m.

In the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, Sanya proudly represented the United States and brought home a Gold Medal in the 4x400m Relay as well as a Bronze Medal in the individual 400m. In 2008, Sanya competed thirteen times in the 200m & 400m events, recording 12 first place results and one second place finish. In the 2007 World Championships, Sanya won a Gold Medal in the 4x400m Relay. She ran the fastest 400m time in the world in 2007 at 49.27 and finished the season ranked No. 1 by the IAAF World rankings in the 400m.

Sanya attended the University of Texas and finished her collegiate career with a total of four NCAA individual titles.
