Bio:
At the 2012 London Olympic Games, Sanya was
showcased her tireless work ethic by collecting two more Gold Medals (400m,
4x400m Relay) to add to an outstanding year that has already seen her win the
400m Indoor World Championship.
Prior to Sanya’s 2012 campaign, she bounced
back from an injury shortened 2010 to claim her record fifth career World
Championship Gold Medal by winning the 4x400 Relay in South Korea. In 2009
Sanya won her first individual Gold Medal at the World Championships, winning
the 400m in addition to claiming Gold in the 4x400m Relay. As she had done in
the two years prior, Sanya went undefeated in Golden League meets. For the
fifth consecutive year, Sanya was the #1 ranked 400m female runner in the
world. She also won her fifth National Championship in the 400m.
In the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, Sanya
proudly represented the United States and brought home a Gold Medal in the
4x400m Relay as well as a Bronze Medal in the individual 400m. In 2008, Sanya
competed thirteen times in the 200m & 400m events, recording 12 first place
results and one second place finish. In the 2007 World Championships, Sanya won
a Gold Medal in the 4x400m Relay. She ran the fastest 400m time in the world in
2007 at 49.27 and finished the season ranked No. 1 by the IAAF World rankings
in the 400m.
Sanya attended the University of Texas and
finished her collegiate career with a total of four NCAA individual titles.
